Indigenous Advantage

Our priorities are;

Advancing indigenous participation from ALL projects on their lands

Many times projects take place on First Nation lands and the nation is only the beneficiary of the final service. We believe strongly that the nation, its companies and people should be involved in every activity along the way. For example;

If a road is being built, there should be indigenous involvement in all the component parts of that project like, equipment operators, gravel provision, project management, safety, equipment rental ... you get the idea.

Helping new indigenous entrepreneurs and business access larger contracts.

Using the above example; where the nation does not have a company that provides that service or equipment, we work with the relevant company or individuals to create a company that can deliver those services. These companies are generally partnerships with other companies who have the skills and resources required for that project, but now those resources are channeled through the First Nation company in such a way as to enable to new company to be able to deliver on that specific local project as well as now having capacity to deliver on many more projects in the future.

In another scenario, a non-indigenous company may have a contract to deliver services on First Nation land and would like to increase First Nation participation in the project. Kanatan Global will help work with the relevant parties to establish a new partnership of to find a way to facilitate greater indigenous participation in the project.

In all scenarios we ensure that the financials and partnership is clear, ensuring that all parties are happy with the level of participation and revenue flows.

Lobbying for government and big business to prioritize indigenous interests in all their projects.

We use our influence to lobby government and big business on those things that matter to First Nations. For example, within some industries the use and misuse of water is destructive to our environmental systems. One of our key partners is a wholly owned indigenous company that cleans water from fracking operations and we want to ensure that this service is fully utilized wherever possible.

As you can see, we lobby for the environmental principle and also for advancing First Nation business interests.
